Only the PHInest 2010: Ang PHI at Ako, Magkasama Ngayong Pasko
by Kim Lorenzo, PHI '10

Once again, the yuletide season has come and many people are hyped up to go to their respective Christmas parties. Unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to enjoy what others experience during this time of the year, like the patients of the Philippine General Hospital. Last December 10, the brods and sisses of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity and Phi Lambda Delta Sorority spent a night of fun and games, laughter, and entertainment with PGH patients, their “bantays”, and PGH employees for the annual gift-giving program “Only the PHInest”. This year’s event was entitled “Ang Phi at Ako, Magkasama Ngayong Pasko. The event was an immense success as the PGH atrium was jampacked as the audience enjoyed the program prepared just for them.
It was definitely a fun-filled event thanks to the wacky hosting tandem of Sis Clarissa Mae Cabrera Gonzales ϕ’10 and Brod Ashraf Abubakar Tawasil ϕ’10. The event became even merrier with Brod Jose Fidel Madrid Caballes ϕ’10 dressed as Santa Claus, and Sis Bea Gulmatico Gulmatico ϕ’10 as Mrs. Claus. The people weren’t able to resist from having their pictures taken with Brod Abraham Enriquez Cruz ϕ’10 dressed up as a fan-art version of Batman, and Brod Mark Rosario Manzano ϕ’09 as War Machine.
The energy was as high as ever as different celebrities graced the event, bringing exceptional joy to all the people in the audience. The first celebrity to make an appearance was the ever gorgeous, and surprisingly hilarious Donita Rose. She definitely charmed and entertained the audience through a song performance, a short stand-up comedy stint, and hosting the popular game “Hep Hep Hooray”. Next off were two of the uprising male celebrities of today’s generation – Starstruck’s Mike Tan, and Actor Guji Lorenzana. They also delivered song performances and hosted one game each. To make things a little different, the popular band 6Cycle Mind rocked the PGH atrium with six of their songs. And last, but definitely not the least, the very talented Ogie Alcasid stopped by and serenaded the audience with some of his famous hits.
The last part of the program was the giving of gift packages to each and every member of the audience. It was definitely a heartwarming atmosphere as the air was filled with the feeling of gratitude and happiness. Indeed, nothing beats seeing the look of genuine happiness in people’s face during the holiday season. Congratulations to Brod Jayson Cabalag Panganiban ϕ’09 and the rest of the OTP team for making this event possible. All for PHI!
