PHIsiklaban 2010
by Kim Paolo Lorenzo, PHI '10

Whoever thought that being Phi was all about work is in for a big surprise. Last November 13, the intense heat of the sun was no match to the high energy of the members of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity and the Phi Lambda Delta Sorority as they united together for the annual sports fest, PHIsiklaban. It was a perfect time for the brods and sisses to take their time off from all the hassles of med life and just enjoy the company of each other. The entire afternoon was packed with fun-filled activities with lots of games, singing and dancing, and a hell lot of laughing.
To get things started, all enjoyed a scrumptious lunch to fuel everyone with lots of energy. Then came the sports fest itself. Four teams (Blue, Green, Pink, Brown) battled it out in different events in a quest for glory. Each team showcased their creativity, wit, and “aliw” factor in the much anticipated mascot and cheer competition. Team members grooved to the music in the very intimate Manila Paper Dance. Memorizing complete names proved to be a challenge in IdentiPHI. The brods surely know how to enjoy and seize the moment in a modified version of Trip to Jerusalem. Team spirit was very evident in Obstacle Relay, Food Relay, and Treasure Hunt. For each event, two members from the losing team performed their reflex to entertain the crowd. Overall, the Green team came in last whereas the Pink team got the ultimate bragging rites.
It was definitely a day to remember. The brods and sisses bonded together, new friendships were formed, everyone got to see the senior batches perform their hilarious reflexes, and all definitely had a great time. It was certainly an occasion worth cherishing.
Congratulations to Brod Mark Rosario Manzano φ’09 for the success of the event. All for PHI!
