Congratulations to the Brods of UPCM Class of 2010
by Kevin Fernandez, PHI '08B and Topher Constanino, PHI '09

Who says a small batch couldn’t be legendary?
Where else can one find a Junior Guardian of the Temple who put on a hard hat and actually participated in the dirty and laborious construction of the PAGKALMA park that the Brods and Sisses enjoy today? It is only from the Brods of UPCM class of 2010, also known as “Phi Batch 2005, Half-life”, our newest alumni Brods. These amazing graduates were zealously led by the prominent Gerald Marion Maramag Abesamis, a.k.a. Ge. Being the epitome of time management, he didn’t fail to live up to his potential in his extra-curricular activities, even with all the work med school entails. He became the Chairperson of the Medicine Student Council during the 2007-2008 school year. In the same year, he also served as the Brother Prior of the fraternity, and later, as Vice Superior Exemplar. He also excels in sports, being a member of the Volleyball Varsity. Along his side is his batchmate, Recivall Pascual Salongcay a.k.a. Reci, a gentle giant with an amazing vocal prowess. Both Reci and Ge share their vocal abilities as members of the world-class UP Medchoir. In addition, he served as the Brother Recorder during 2006-2007. Also, there’s Alvin Christopher Sy Chu, a.k.a. Alvin Chu, a man with a sound and strong character. He is one who gives priceless advice, one you can approach anytime. He served as the Brother Custodian during 2007-2008. Last, but definitely not the least, is Bayani Soriño Pasco Jr., a.k.a. Bjay, the same JGOT whose hard work and dedication took him to the rank of Superior Exemplar in the year 2009-2010. In between the aforementioned positions, he also served as the Venerable Preceptor, and the Senior Guardian of the Temple.
In addition to their extra-curricular achievements, they have also brought honor to the fraternity through academic awards they have received during their graduation. Ge Abesamis was among the Top 10 Most Outstanding Interns in both Anesthesiology and Ophthalmology, while Alvin Chu was among the Top 10 Most Outstanding Interns in Neurology.
This batch has definitely made their mark in the fraternity and in the college. They have trudged the arduous road of med school without fear nor falter. Now, they are ready to leave a mark in a bigger society as the newest batch of doctors from the Most Venerable Fraternity of the UP College of Medicine, the PHI KAPPA MU.
