In Pursuit of Truth and Justice
by the Phi Kappa Mu Executive Council, 2010-2011

We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, stand together for truth and justice.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, were present at a multisectoral rally held in Quezon Hall, UP Diliman on Wednesday March 24, 2010. We were there to show our solidarity with other students from UP Manila, UP Diliman, and UP Los Baños, with staff and faculty of the Philippine General Hospital, as well as with members of the All UP Workers Union. We were there to show the Board of Regents our revulsion in their blatant disregard of due process and the undemocratic governance of our university.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, were at the rally to show the Board of Regents our opposition to the disenfranchisement of the duly elected student regent Ms. Charisse Bañez. Proceeding with the BOR meeting without the sole representative of the students to the highest policy making body of the university would have been a great disservice to the over 40,000 students in the University System.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, were at the rally to show Board of Regents our opposition to their arbitrary, unjust and unceremonious removal of Dr. Jose Castillo Gonzales as the rightful director of the Philippine General Hospital. Dr. Jose Castillo Gonzales was deprived of the due process befitting a civil servant. Dr. Jose Castillo Gonzales was removed without cause or reason.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, believe that the issue surrounding the directorship of the Philippine General Hospital transcends mere affiliation rivalries. Our cause is supported by numerous people who have crossed party lines. We do not support Dr. Jose Castillo Gonzales just because he is one of us. We stand by him because he was duly elected and unlawfully removed. We stand for due process and democratic principles which he represents.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, believe that the issue can only be resolved by reinstating student representation to the Board of Regents; and for the BOR to uphold the due process involved in the appointment of Director of the Philippine General Hospital.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, regret that certain elements in the said rally turned to vandalism and violence. These were elements beyond our control. We do not condone such acts. None of our own brods turned to hooliganism. Testimonials from witnesses present at the scene and video clips of the incident clearly absolve us from any wrong doing.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, have never resorted to violence, vandalism, or cheating.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, have always carried ourselves in a manner of pride and dignity.
We, the brods of the Phi Kappa Mu, urge you to join our cause in the pursuit of truth and justice.
