The PHI calendar does not end as the school year comes to a close, as the fraternity takes advantage of the free summer months to pursue service-oriented projects. Annually, the Senior Guardian of the Temple along with the Phi Lambda Delta’s Sister Caritas organizes a series of surgical (circumcision) missions, under the banner of the PagKalMa, the Phi Kappa Mu and the Phi Lambda Delta’s joint socio-civic arm.
The series of missions kicked off at Barangay San Gabriel, San Pablo, Laguna on April 11, 2009. Some one hundred nervous boys trooped the MSC High School building and had themselves listed for free circumcision. Host brod Dr. Emman Prudente Φ97 along with Brods Mark Mariñas Φ98, Richmond Chang Φ00 and Dugz Tan Φ02 assisted the resident brods in the operations.
The next mission is slated for April 16, 2009 at Kamuning, Quezon City; made possible through the efforts of Brod Mark Mariñas and Junior Chamber International. More surgical missions are scheduled for La Union, Boracay, Pangasinan and Puerto Galera in the weeks to come.
