PROJECT OPERA: PHI SPONSORS PGH
HERNIOTOMY AND HYRDOCOELECTOMY MISSION
by Ivan Imperial, PHI '08A
On May 23 2009, Brod Dr. Alduz Cabasa Φ2000, together with the Section of Pediatric Surgery of the Philippine General Hospital, conducted a herniotomy and hydrocoelectomy mission at the RCB-OR of the Philippine General Hospital. Sharing the same passion for service of the Filipino, the fraternity once again joined the UP-PGH in this endeavor. Through the Fraternity’s Operating Room Assistance (OPERA) Program, twenty-eight (28) pediatric patients were successfully operated on and had their hernias/hydrocoeles successfully removed.
Since its inception in 2007, the PHI KAPPA MU’s OPERA Program has given financial assistance to indigent pediatric surgical patients of PGH through provision of surgical needs and medications. The OPERA Program is funded by Phi Kappa Mu International, a non-profit corporation created by PHI brods based in the United States.
