In the fast-paced and hectic life of medicine, almost everyone is a stranger. People always come and go, always hurrying to go somewhere, barely noticing the same faces that pass through every day, never stopping to even glance at the picturesque buildings of the College. And even the buildings seem solitary themselves, iconic monuments to the cold and detached spirit of academe.

But somewhere inside the College lies a modest shed that seems to defy it’s surrounding. Pagkalma Park, the home of the Phi Kappa Mu and the Phi Lambda Delta, shines bright and loud amidst the gloomy aura that surrounds it. Truly the place dearest to the hearts of the Brods and Sisses, Pagkalma has witnessed the countless talks and laughter booming from the celebrated brotherhood and sisterhood that the Brods and Sisses share whenever they hang around. But then once in a blue moon, the Brods and Sisses go all out, and once again the quiet corners of Pagkalma reverb to the sounds of the most awaited celebration in Pagkalma: Pagkalma Night!

Last June 21, 2011, the Brods and Sisses gathered for another spectacular night of innocent fun of food, music, dance, karaoke and kick-ass console games, all happening right inside Pagkalma! Truly, a night to remember as everyone enjoyed themselves to swinging Wii rackets, singing old-time favorite songs and recalling the steps to old-time dance crazes while the other Brods and Sisses helped themselves to overflowing soda, chips and pizza. The night took witness of the wonderful talents in singing of our Sisses such as Din-din and Panic. But the ‘main event’ of the evening was undoubtedly the dance moves of the brods and sisses as they went head to head in the PS3 console dance game, Sing Star. The crowd went wild as brods and sisses took their groove and showed their stuff on the camera and the cheering crowd. Unforgettable were the match-ups of the JGOT Brod Kim Lorenzo, PHI ’10 taking on the Sister Prior Sis Julie, the VSE Brod JF Gutierrez, PHI ‘08B, taking on the VSSE Sis Alex, and even Alumni Brod Dax Pascasio, PHI ’06, against Alumni Sis Alikoy.

Truly a night to remember and something to look forward to once again. Congratulations to our Vice Superior Exemplar Brod JF Gutierrez, PHI ’08, for a very fun and successful Pagkalma Night!
